About Us

Dance Caribe Performing Company (DCPC) was founded in 1989 under the direction of Martin Scott-Pascall. As a not-for-profit organization, the group from its beginnings has chosen as its roots Caribbean Dance as its main artistic expression.

Celebrating over 29 years, DCPC’s repertoire of dances embraces the cultural diversity that is unique to the Caribbean. These dances are presented in their traditional form as well as in contemporary and modem dance styles preserving the energy and rhapsody of Caribbean cultural aesthetics.  DCPC has a very strong performing history within the Caribbean Canadian community and over the years has maintained a very active participation in multicultural and international festivities throughout Ontario, Québec, British Columbia, USA, Hong Kong, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands of Dominica, Antigua, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago.

DCPC received numerous awards at these festivals and was the winner at the 2001 Chin International Folklore Dance Festival Canada and runner up on nine occasions, the Scarborough Urban Hero Award winner for 2014 and winner of the 2012, 2013, 2016 & 2017 Caribbean Music and Entertainment Award champion and Best Caribbean Dance Company, to name a few.

Throughout the years Dance Caribe Performing Company have performed at many world class events such as being a part of the Opening Ceremony for the Pan AM Games 2015 with Cirque du Soliel (Toronto, Canada), the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2013 (Toronto, Canada), the Winter Olympics 2010 (Vancouver, Canada), the Chinese New Year Festival 2005 (Hong Kong, Hong Kong) and we also opened at the Prime Minister Trophy Best Village Competition during our Trinidad Tour in 2017 (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad).

Dance Caribe Performing Company have created and produced over 20 full length and mini productions for mainstream audience as well as schools and tours in Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Nova Scotia and Vancouver), the Caribbean (Antigua, Barbados, Dominica, Trinidad & Tobago) and the USA (South Carolina, Boston, Houston and New York).

DCPC continues sharing with many multicultural festivals such as the Serbian Cultural Showcase, the Chinese Cultural Association of Canada, the Afro-Caribbean Festival throughout Canada, the FestCaribbean (Brantford, Canada), Jambana – One World Festival, the JerkFest (Toronto, Canada) and A Taste of the Caribbean (Montreal, Canada).

The company also participated at the Harbourfront Summer Festival, the CNE – Canadian National Exhibition Annual Festival (Toronto, Canada) and the Toronto Caribbean Carnival Parade (Formerly, Caribana) (Toronto, Canada) throughout the years.

DCPC continues supporting many charitable causes; the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital, Markham Stouffville Hospital, Caribbean Children Foundation as well as the Heart and Stroke Foundation and many more.   And to give back to our Canadian community, DCPC promotes and has hosted the Caribbean Junior Children Folklore Dance Festival for the last 19 years.

Therefore, Dance Caribe Performing Company has been an established company for the past 29 years and counting… Preserving through dance, the cultural diversity of the Caribbean.
